Nicole Tucker is a lifelong resident of Saugerties and a graduate of Saugerties High School. She received her BA from Western New England College in History Education. While at WNEC, she played a large role in student government and peer leadership programs. Upon graduation, Nicole moved to Washington, D.C. and accepted a job with the Close-Up Foundation. This non-profit organization’s goal was to teach our nation’s youth about our government and their role in the democratic process. It was here, in Washington, D.C., that her passion for government, history and education was solidified. Upon the completion of a very successful program season at Close-Up, Nicole decided to move back home to Saugerties to begin her career as a Social Studies teacher and to complete her education at SUNY New Paltz.
Nicole is a positive role model to all those who grow up in Saugerties, leave to pursue a higher education and choose to return to work and live in their home town. She has been a Social Studies teacher at Saugerties High School now for four years and has completed her MS in education from SUNY New Paltz. Nicole has been extremely active in her position at the high school. As the advisor of the History Club, she organized a trip which brought 41 Saugerties High School students to Washington, DC for four days. While in DC, the students learned a great deal about our country’s history through our Capitol’s monuments and museums, they took part in the political process by discussing local issues with their Congressman, Maurice Hinchey and they were there to witness the historic Inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Nicole is highly motivated and immediately impresses you with her confidence and enthusiasm for the political process as a vehicle for serving her community. If elected to the County Legislature, she will work diligently to ensure that our community’s voices are heard in Kingston. There has been monumental change in Ulster County government and Nicole will make sure that our interests and tax dollars are being spent appropriately. Nicole has also been endorsed by both the Working Family Party and the Independence Party. |
