Dear Editor,
It seems like some people have taken issue with candidates endorsed by the Working Families Party.
We are proud to be endorsed by the Working Families Party. Their platform can be summed up in two words, Working Families.
The Working Families Party is dedicated to fighting for a more just world where the economy works for everyone, and where politicians are held accountable to working people instead of big-money backers. They are working to create a society where working people can find a good job, get healthcare, afford a home, send children to decent schools, and have a secure retirement. What’s wrong with that?
The Working Families Party also stands for: Affordable Housing, Clean Elections, Education, and Equal Rights. What’s wrong with that?
The Working Families Party is leading a partnership to develop a state program to make our homes more energy-efficient, pay for itself, save consumers money, create thousands of jobs in the process, fight global warming and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. They are doing this by leveraging private investors’ to form an investment pool to fund the program with little or no public money. The Working Families Party is taking the initiative to make the lives of every working family better. What's wrong with that?
We are proud to be associated with a party that wants to hold elected officials up to a higher standard, and make them more concerned about Main Street than Wall Street.
In this election we prefer to spend our time addressing issues that affect the lives of the people of Ulster County.
