Letter to the Editor :
As you wade through the palm cards, flyers and visits from the campaign
candidates, we should take the time to ask ourselves some important
questions before we cast our vote on November 3rd. We are already dealing with the shortcomings and miscalculations of our government and how ultimately we as citizens pay the price in taxes and our well being. Now more than ever, we should be thoughtful and exercise care in making our choices.
Your candidate should reflect your values and views, be knowledgeable of the issues and be brave enough to state their positions in plain language. Their actions and backgrounds should be consistent with what they say and do. You should look carefully at candidates that use aggressive attacks to divert your attention from the real issues that we are facing and that need to be addressed. Are you voting party loyalty instead of your own best interests?
If they are incumbents, what does their record tell you? Are they accessible and do they do their job or do you only see them at election time? Are they making a stand, or worse, hiding from the public? If they are new, what kind of skills to they bring to the table and are they useful to government?
As a candidate in the race for the legislature, I ask that you take the time to make the best possible decision for your community, your family and our future. I have something valuable to contribute to Ulster County, not only as a businesswomen, but also as a citizen who has a proven commitment to her community for over twenty five years.
Please visit the web site www.d4dems for more information. I look forward to meeting many of you in the upcoming weeks.
