Ulster County Legislator Gary Bischoff met with Legislature Chair David Donaldson and Pattern For Progress President and CEO Jonathan Drapkin on local government consolidation in mid September.

Donaldson and Bischoff reported on the efforts by the Ulster County Legislature to work with municipalities on shared services and consolidation efforts. Pattern serves a nine-county region which includes Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties. According to Pattern for Progress' web site, their mission is to "preserve and promote the social, economic and natural environments of the Hudson Valley region by building consensus for a pattern of growth that will insure a high quality of life."
